UET has firm believe in women empowerment through serious and productive means because woman is integral part of society. It was expressed by the Vice-Chancellor University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid in an event on International Women’s Day arranged by Department of Humanities with the collaboration of ASME Society UET at Campus’ Auditorium.
He said that women are major share of the population of Pakistan which performing very tough tasks for society. So it is need to acknowledge their services at macro and micro level and boost up their efforts to be empowered for the real stability in social bonds. He applauded that new bill for the protection of women rights by the legislation is historic achievement to strengthen the role of woman as an entity. He also said that female teachers are being the members of several committees at UET.
The guest speaker Dr. Atiya Syed emphasized that it is need of the clock to channelizing the struggles and hardworking of women to bring them into main streamline of progress. For this purpose more progress must be introduced to induce gigantic change in society by indulging more women in infrastructure of country.
Dr. Neelum Naz and Dr. Sabahat said that women should be well equipped with modern education and deep observation about society as well. At this moment Mrs. Alia Saleem Naushahi Humanities Department said that no nation can be succeeded fully without the active role of women. In this regard all sort of stereotype and orthodox approaches must be abolished and adopt the progressive way for all segment of society.
All teachers, other officials and a large number of students attended the event. At the end the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid presented crests to the guests in which Dr. Atiya Syed, Dr. Neelum Naz, Dr. Sabahat, Dr. Rehana, Dr. Noreen Zafar, Athlete Samra Anjum, Ammara Faroq Malik, Sadia Khan and Sidra Gondal were included.
